Been off the water for over a month. Minnows on the bottom, Western shore river got it done.

    Drool, eat, burp.

Looks fantastic and those roe sets would be delicious.

Too darned cold for me...be glad when the weather allows for a couple of weeks of bright warm days to warm up the 37 degree water in the bay and river tributaries...Yellow perch are really good table fish, but like all panfish you need to scale down to be able to enjoy catching them...I like using my 7’ Fish Eagle Ultra Light spinning rod with a 1000 Pfluegar Supreme with 6# Berkeley fused fireline with a 18 inches of 10# Trilene XT mono leader...really nice smooth outfit that allows these fish to give you a nice bend in the rod...

I scale down even more then that. My go to perch rod is my 5'6" st croix ultra light. To scale down even more I bring the 3' dock demon along and got a few on that too!

Was this on the upper Patuxent? I'm having a hard time finding them on Potomac tributaries this year.

How was the meat? I caught a bunch last year in a Choptank tributary and they were chock full of worms. I don't mind a few here and there, but these were loaded.

Very clean and delicious. YP can be wormy depending on where you catch them it seems. At this spot, I usually find only a few tiny worms out of a limit of YP.
