    You guys that like pickerel fishing May want to try Loch Raven. I went shore fishing yesterday afternoon and landed 2 and lost 3 due to sharp teeth one was large. Here is a pic of a 22” one.

    Good for you.

    You can avoid pickerel bite-offs with 30 to 40 lb. mono as a leader or bite tippet. They may scrape the leader up a bit, but they rarely bite through that diameter of mono.

      I would have but I was crappie fishing and didn’t have any heavy leader line with me

        I use 20-lb mono leaders on my pickerel rigs and rarely get a bite off.

                I sometimes use 20 lb. Fluorocarbon for them which works fine but usually use very light wire because of the Northern Pike there.
