  • Pax river 4/27 report

Floated 5 miles, 2 of us on kayaks.
Water was slightly higher, slightly faster and stained (but stained is normal for the pax)
Launched at Queen Annes at 6:45,,,
We threw everything we owned, buzz, froms, chatter, grubs, jigs, etc.
We fished the banks, structure, back channels, cut off ponds, etc.
    Nothing.

About once a year I fish the Pax, to remind myself why I don't fish the Pax.

Great structure, it should be a great river, if it were not so polluted from the 1/2 million sewage treatment plants on this stretch, I imagine there is very little oxygen in the water.

The fish that make up the majority of that stretch of the Pax are the blue catfish...cut bait on fish finder rigs, anchored up and you can catch all you want...down in St. Mary’s County stretch of the Pax it is salt...and full of white perch, school Striper, occasionally Speckled Trout and a few Redfish...later in the summer months...from Benedict to the Bay it is salty...

I was hoping for some Bass, Yellow Perch and SH,, The habitat is perfect,, but I fear the water quality is what keeps it from being a thriving fishery.
