  • Anyone seeing white perch in their summer spots, yet?

It's about that time! Maybe a week early.

Trying to plan out a few upcoming trips and if the WP were in it would be good to know!

    Thanks in advance,

I fished for them in two Severn tributaries last week and in another tributary this afternoon. The water looked good, but I had no bites. My records show that they first arrive in the Severn about the second week of May.

Thanks, John. As you know, I’m a bit South of you. I usually see them a few days sooner. I’m getting antsy for some perchiness.

Gunpowder River normally sees the run by this point, but so far it's been all very small, and the small yellow perch never moved out, which is odd in itself.

I fished one of the bigger creeks of the Patapsco on Tuesday night and landed one decent white perch in about 5' of water, along with probably 4 or 5 good whacks from some others. They definitely seemed hesitant to fully commit, but it felt good to feel a perch on the end of an ultralight again. I don't know enough about white perch to say whether or not this was dumb luck or not, but hopefully it's a good sign!

We really have not targeted white perch yet, so hard for me to say if they are here or not...we normally catch them first as a by-catch fishing for Stripers on the soft plastic swimbaits and then target them specifically...once you land a couple of 12 inch white perch on Bass Assassins, you know a perch pounder will get em...

Lots of small perch in the Susquehanna. Have not seen any big ones though.

Middle River produced on mid sized white yesterday, mixed in with quite a few small yellows and one 24 inch channel cat.
