I fished from 0700 to 1000 with only one 9 inch perch to show for it. I got him at the mouth of the South River. The current wasn't flowing much today and the creek had loads of fine suspended stuff. When bubbles came up, they didn't burst they just kept floating. It was almost like a polluted pond.
My Humminbird was painting plenty of holding fish, they just weren't taking what I had. I tried beetle spins, twisty tails and gulp while throwing, vertical jigging, drifting and trolling. I got the perch on a 3 inch white twisty tail on a round chartreuse jig head. There were quite a bit of jumping fish and I may have done well if I had some poppers but unfortunately I did not.
With the winds as calm as they were, I don't know why I didn't think to put in a the Severn.
