Susquehanna Rivers Smallmouth 9/8/19

First time I have chased smallies on the river in my kayak, caught two decent fish, one on a jig and another on top-water.

This fish was interesting - it had some wound, probably from a heron or eagle, but it still put up a nice fight. There was also a channel cat chasing it, about 18" or so, all the way up to the boat. It literally came out of the water when I landed the fish, and it tail-slapped the boat before it went down.

This fish came on a Pop-R on the shady bank near some structure.

I'll definitely do more smallmouth fishing on the river, once they put the fall feedbags on!

Nice. Did you launch at Lapidum?

I actually launched at Jean Roberts Park in Havre de Grace. I wanted to get in some exercise, since some tendinitis has been keeping me from the gym. I pedaled about 10 miles yesterday. Now that I know the lay of the land, I will launch my paddle kayak at Lapidum the next time.

Yeah, their picking up a tad caught 4 last Tuesday on the river.
