  • Wednesday Morning Chain Pickeral

Decided to beat the rain for a bit of fishing this morning so I threw my SINK in the water near my house and paddled around to Spriggs Pond off the Magothy. Threw paddle tails up against the walls and docks for 30 minutes. Caught two feisty chain pickerels and one very small striper. The biggest pickeral was 23 inches and was not happy to be caught, giving me quite a fight by diving and jumping, etc. Tide was very high and had just started to move.

Good to see some local pickerals! Did you launch from Spriggs Farm or your private launch?

I launch from private neighborhood park at the end of Manor Road so Spriggs Pond (as it’s called around here) is only 100 yards away. I’ve seen many more pickeral this year as compared to last two years.
