I fished the Harry Nice bridge with a lot of company yesterday, October 8- seems like the local boaters know when to fish, too. They anchored up next to the power plant discharge in about twenty feet of water and I had to weave through them- caught fish, though- They were nice and slowed their boats down so as not to swamp me- friendly too- very curious and asked a lot of questions about kayak fishing after watching me catch fish...It got hot in the afternoon and I sweated like a big dog- I did not catch a single Bluefish and the plastics only had one bite off. The Channel Catfish were in full swing- everyone was catching them- I got a nice five pounder- caught six stripers of various sizes from 12 inches to 22 inches- one big white perch trolling on a tony spoon....marked a ton of fish on my 350 Cuda Smap...that thing works perfectly- just like they advertise. The fish were hitting in the shallower waters- I didn't do anything jigging around the pilings in 80-100 feet of water even though I was marking fish underneath me in about sixty feet of water. I think my next trip is down to Point Lookout again-

Roy and fished the bridge today. Roy caught two perch and I caught nothing.... We fished the discharge, the two bridge pilings nearest the MD side and the power plant pier.
The fish were there, but definitely not interested in what we had to offer. There were only two boats fishing the discharge and they weren't catching either. As they say, better luck next time.WS Tarpon 120 Mango

Wow! What tide did you fish? Did you pull lures or did you bottom fish? The discharge chute had a lot of current yesterday as the powerplant was cranking...I pulled one Rapala XR10 XRap blue silver crank bait and a chartreuse one ounce jig with a six inch sassy shad body- tied eight inches above that a 1/4 ounce white buck tail with a three inch curly tail grub...both the sassy shad and the buck tail caught fish as did the XRap"Lady Luck" 2016 Red Hibiscus Hobie Outback, Lowrance Hook2-7TS

I started with a 3" chartreuse curly tail grub on a 1/4oz jig head, then switched to a 3" Swim Shad swim bait and finally to a 1/2oz Kastmaster lure which I cast, trolled and jigged to no avail. The only lure I didn't try was my deep diving crank bait...
We were on the river from 11:15 AM to about 2:30 PM.WS Tarpon 120 Mango

Dave- I had surgery yesterday to remove a lesion from my fore head and the doc doesn't want me lifting anything for five days- so Saturday should be good to go for me- I plan to try either PLO or Piney Point area down south- I want a few speckled trout for the pan- I asked Bill to join me down there- but more the merrier, I say- so why don't you head down south too? It is about an hour from me to PLO-"Lady Luck" 2016 Red Hibiscus Hobie Outback, Lowrance Hook2-7TS
