  • Missed it by that much

Been fishing Breton Bay hard, primarily because of winds, but also looking for that school of large fish. We’re still finding some decent fish but having to wade through lots of schoolies to find them. Up until today I’ve been trolling a twisty tail but wanted to do something different so I decided to jig metal around humps.

Today if you went more than 30 seconds without a fish something was wrong. Got a couple 18” fish but bulk were those 12” PIA stab you in the hand spasmodic fish. However one was different today. All I can say is missed it by that much.

    Mike,

Nice catch -- Beast of a white perch!

I've never caught caught a citation white perch. I had one close like yours during a Poplar Island M&G several years ago but I couldn't quite stretch it to 13 inches on my Hawg Trough.

    Good luck in finding more.

Great perch. You guys in southern MD are having some good fishing opportunities to start the year. I hope it continues.

It’s been a suspiciously good start, kind of has me worried.

While you are catching lots of fun fish and getting some good pullage, I caught a PW (personal worst) largemouth this morning. This little fella was about 5-6 inches long. Even on my ultralight rod, it did not fight too much.
