Went to centennial with my my big guy. This would be his first kayak fishing outing. He has kayaked a good amount but never fished on one. I figured centennial would be a good place to break him in. I really was worried about boat traffic in the rivers so I figured that would be a little better. We loaded up and got there around 11. I wanted to go in the evening but the wife had plans and I promised to get him out today. I gave him my worm rod that he had used on shore in the past. There was A LOT of people and kayaks. I never seen so many inflatables. We went with my normal just catch a ton of fish pattern not really worried about the size. He used a zoom weightless worm with the twitch twitch pause technique. We talked about boat position and the key to kayak fishing is control of the kayak. As we pulled up on our first cove I was pretty impressed with his control. He got in a good place and started hitting som really nice cast right at shore shortly after he had a hit. He got pulled/blown towards shore and did struggle to get him landed. I paddled up and got him and unhooked him and passed him over. He got his first kayak fish. I just kept messing around with swimbaits and let him keep beating the shore. He ended up getting three more. I got one little chunker. Overall super proud of him. He was in control and did a great job staying in position with great cast as well. I was really worried about him getting skunked and not wanting to do it again. The complete opposite he is hooked. Might go out in the river tonight.
