I have spent a lot of time trolling in Prospect Bay during the past three weeks, and caught many fish. I wanted to try somewhere different today. I made a longer drive and a much longer paddle and found some quality fish.
This morning I covered a long distance in my Native Ultimate FX15 paddle kayak. I visited a spot that features moving water funneled through a narrow opening with the tide with shallow water nearby. The outgoing tide was ideal for fishing here.

I was fishing my favorite light-tackle casting rod -- a 6'6" light St Croix Avid rod so I could enjoy the action. I cast into the current flow and hopped/twitched the lure along with the flow. I also cast across the current and caught some fish at the color transition between the outgoing brownish water and the surrounding greenish water.
I had some very good action with fat stripers up to 21" pulling me around in the current flow -- even the shorter fish were fat and energetic. I also caught a 13" white perch in the same spot. My second perch was about 11" long, but it looked puny
These fish were attracted to a 3/16-oz jighead with either a white or a chartreuse 3" paddletail. All fish were returned to the water.

It took a lot of effort to get to and from this spot (5 hours on the water and paddling over 9 miles), but with today's favorable tide times and wind, it was possible for an old guy, and was worth the effort. I trolled part of the time and caught no fish that way. I did some casting to other structures that have produced for me in the past. Today they were not generous.
