  • Point Lookout and St Inigoes

Met up with Gary at PLO for a 5AM launch on Monday. We fished the falling tide but the fish by in large were not in a biting mood. Most years you’d try for perch to salvage the day, this year it’s specks that are filling in the gap. We each managed a decent trout.

This morning I joined Ron and Daniel at St Inigoes to fish the high tide at 5:30. The rains last night had turned the water at the ramp a weird milky color so Ron and I settled on limetruese Bass Assassins. I quickly found a couple quality stripers over the grass flats and Ron called out he’d found a 20+” trout on the same flats but further out. I headed off to Kitts point where I found lots of schoolies but no quality. When I came back into radio range he told me he’d “limited” out. I’d say so.

Definitely nice when you find a school of quality fish. As the sun got higher it became apparent there was a very pronounced mud line. In the mud side, stripers, in the clearer water were the trout. Here’s an attempt to show how pronounced it was.

Could be the best speckled trout bite in years on our side of the bay.

Fun morning bite...milky colored water made lure color selection critical...Rule number 1 never leave fish...all 4 caught within thirty minutes...15” was the smallest- 20 1/4” was the biggest.
