  • June 18th Main River Report

Sometimes the fish do not bite..sometimes you get skunked..sometimes a catfish is the best you can do..

Well today we did not get skunked as we caught one small LGMouth and several catfish. Covered 20 miles plus of river. Every spot looked good..water looked good but temps dropped several degrees the last few days. And shut them down for us today.

It happens...to all of us...not often, but when it does, it makes us appreciate those “red letter days” of outstanding catches-so much more!

I was one of Capt Mike's clients yesterday. He took us to a variety of spots that had different habitats and provided different types of lures for the different spots. We worked hard making many casts and found the fish uncooperative. I did catch my first blue catfish in several years (the grey one) and my first ever white catfish (the yellowish one with spots) -- both came on a Rat-L Trap. I enjoyed seeing spots I have never been to before. Plus after having cancelled several charter trips this spring due to the Covid, this was my first time out on a charter since February.
