Just to prove that my July 31 puppy drum catch in the Severn was not a fluke (no fish pun intended), I caught a second 12" pup this morning. I caught it in a different Severn tributary than the first one. I caught it using a different lure (4" Gulp swimming mullet on a jighead retrieved slowly along the bottom) and in a different water depth (18" today vs. 4 ft before). For those who enjoy fishing the Severn, pups are a possibility this year.

There have some reports of a few puppy drum being caught around Chincoteague. I tried locating them there last weekend but was unsuccessful.
