  • 3 Firsts at Jonas Green

Thank you everyone who gave me advice. Went to Jonas Green this morning before sunrise and worked the shoreline between the bridges. On a 1/2 oz gold kastmaster, I caught my first ever pickerel to add to lots of white perch and small stripers. So today was my first pickerel, first Severn Slam and also the first time I ever caught anything on a Beetlespin.

I felt like a kid again and am still smiling. Seriously thank you to all of you who shared your excellent advice :---)

Congratulations on the slam. You are off to a good start.

The pickerel on the main stem of the Severn is unusual, they are generally found in the ponds and side creeks.

USPS let me down on getting you your lures before today. They were supposed to arrive by Friday.......Apologies.

Nice going. There are many opportunities for fishing the Severn. You can have some fun learning new spots and productive techniques. But you are off to a good start.

Lol..thank you bignose. I had an amazing day and plan to return next weekend with my new "secret weapon" once they arrive in the mail. Honestly, I haven't had this much fun fishing in a while. Once I got into the area, I am not sure what to call it? Is it a tidal pond by Manresa? Anyway, once I got there it was a frenzy.

Question: My one and only gold kastmaster spoon got caught on a crabber's trotline and I snapped the line trying to get it back without disrupting his catch. When he pulled in his trotline he "thanked me for the lure." I asked nicely if I could have it back and he said "it is his to keep" and then motored away. Is that the normal etiquette?

          Etiquette?

It depends on the crabber.....most of the time it's "finders-keepers."

And yes, that is a tidal pond up by Manresa.

              Crabby crabber for sure.

Congratulations on your nice day. More to come as you explore the area. It rarely disappoints.
