Does anyone know of any tidal ponds out Central Avenue (Rt 214) on the way to Edgewater or Carr's Wharf?
Thank you
There is at least one large tidal pond inside the Beverly Triton park. You would need to make a considerable walk to get to the pond from the parking area. I caught my first white perch of 2020 there last spring. There are several ponds in the community of Beverly Beach. They are marked conspicuously with no parking signs on the nearby streets.
There is another tidal pond inside Mayo Beach park, although parking and access is difficult there. There is a lesser-known park on the north side of Rt 214 called South River Farms park. There is a lot of waterfront there, but none of it is close to parking. I have not walked the trails to see how far it is and what the terrain is like.
There are some stormwater ponds in Edgewater near the post office. They are not tidal, however.
I suggest that if you are looking for new locations you spend some time using Google Maps or Google Earth. You can use the aerial photo (Satellite) mode and see pretty good detail about water locations. Keep in mind that nearly all waterfront access in AA County is non-public. Over many years I have searched for new shoreline fishing spots and kayak access spots. If I see something promising, I can drive by and see what it looks like at ground level. Occasionally I find a spot that is not demarcated by No Parking or No Trespassing signs. I tend to keep these locations to myself.
