Water temps 37.7-39.3 per my fish finder, ran into a guy that headed towards the mouth instead of up into the shallows like I did, he reported water temps up to 42 down there but had similar results, found some bait schools, not much more. Not sure if he is on here, forgot to ask. NJ tags on his car and trailered an old town kayak (not sure what ifs called, the one with a built in trolling motor). As far as my report: I launched from slavins, headed to the right about a quarter mile, then turned around and went upstream until I reached the shallows around where there's a seawall on the left. I found a few small schools of bait here and there but not much else, soaked some chicken and some frozen cutbait, threw a few lures (bignose spinner, z man, chatter bait) but no bites. I fished about 10-2:30, it was pretty windy all day, but started to pick up in the afternoon so I called it quits. Was somewhat of a long slow peddle back to the dock against the wind, but not terrible. All in all a great day even though no fish wanted to visit the boat, and certainly scratched the itch for a bit. It'll likely be a few weeks until I go out again with the I pending weather and other obligations.

Thanks for the report - sorry to hear you didn’t get on them out there. Was the water muddy from snow run off at all?
I’ve only fished there a few times, but I remember there being a few holes that were productive past Thoroughfare island (~1.5 miles downstream).
