  • Headed out tomorrow? (Saturday March 20)

Haven't checked the wind yet so unless that forecast is terrible I'll likely be out tomorrow... Probably mattawoman again for catfish and perch because I don't know any better... If anyone wants to meet up there or elsewhere I'm game to go wherever. And I'm covid vaccinated so no/less worry on that front! (not that we'll be too close anyway)

Edit: winds look good- single digits, so this is a go.

looks like i didnt get many bites. may be switching up plans and going to jug bay/jacksons. never been there, might as well try it...

Ended up going to jug bay, didn't find any perch, but headed up to the catfish hole, searched around a bit and found a good school in the 15 foot or so depths surrounding the hole. I spent a few hours reeling them in over and over. Lost track of how many I caught, all 30" or less. Most in the 10-18 inch length. A few came home with me for dinner and the freezer, many went back.

Nice! Did you launch at selby landing? Thinking of heading out for a meat trip Sunday evening. Based on your report may launch at selby to try find blue catfish. Last year around this time I launch at selby landing, about a quarter mile up Lyons creek I found white perch. Was using a perch pounder. Probably could have caught right many but my back hurt so bad on my ascend 12t I just wanted to go home. Was catching white perch about every other cast close to the bottom.

Launched at jackson's landing and fished mainly where the western branch meets the patuxent. Beware of using a gps to get there- waze at first took me down a road that was closed to nonresident traffic... Had to do another 10 min or so of driving to get to the actual entrance. First timer problems.
