Jim is a regular that didn't realize he even had a trip scheduled until I texted him. (held over from the Covid cancelations of 2020) His usual partner was out of town and Jim couldn't find anyone to fish with him so, he fished alone. Always a good time with Jim. Beautiful weather, the fish were far from active. We would have almost filled the cooler if Jim was a fish keeper. (his partner usually kept all the fish, making it an easy clean up for me) We got one big one.

Time to start the minnow tanks again. With the tanks full of big minnows and all feisty. Headed out early for the April spider crappie season on a beautiful Saturday. Fished about four new spots and no bites..but marked lots of fish. Ended up on a old spot as the water warmed up. Most crappie caught where just moving into spawn areas. Only two had a tuxedo on. Caught some nice eater catfish as well.

Nice day and lots of fun.

In all my years on the water, I have never seen a prop break like yours did. That looks like it has to have been a casting flaw. I'll bet it jumped around some before you shut it down.

Is that Spoils Cove? Had no idea there were crappie that size around there. Wow.

Is there anywhere on the Maryland side to launch a kayak? Or is the waterfront at old town the closest place?

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find any launch options on the Maryland side. Your best bet is probably the canoe/kayak launch at Jones Point Park on the Virginia side of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge.
