  • Lower Slower-not SMOG report

Hello Snaggedline! I've been waiting on the warmer weather and am glad to be back on the water. Trying to get out there and fish. Fished earlier this week, Mother's Day evening. We were trolling in anywhere from 4-5' FOW to deeper. Mostly rock in the 14-16" class. Also catching white perch. perch.jpg Later in the evening, my buddy called out over the radio that he had something with teeth. I asked if he had a blue or lizardfish-Nope! spec.jpg We were using various jig heads (.25-.5 oz) and paddletails. I believe my buddy got his spec on a .5 oz jigead with a chartreuse curly tail. Numerous rock caught throughout the trip, largest was 20.5' at sunset. Hope to be out this evening.

You know that these waters are under SMOG protection and that fishing in them requires a small donation in cash.

Great report. The warm weather this week should turn on all the lights. Been a very good start.

Nice work. At least one speck has moved considerably farther north. Yesterday I caught an 18" speck in the general area of Eastern Bay. Hopefully 2021 will be a good year for them. Last year, I caught my only two Eastern Bay-area specks on June 6. This year is three weeks earlier. That is a good sign.

Nice catch John. I think the speck bite this year will be strong.

Had a tough day yesterday, but ultimately good day, yesterday. Out 4-830pm. Didn't catch our first fish until an hour in. I landed six schoolie rock all day 8-16". Managaed maybe half a dozen white perch. My buddy Russell landed two rockfish 19" & 21.5", the larger had sores, and two white perch all day. We saw CNR. Glad to able to get out. Rockfish were caught with a .5 oz. bucktail, white head and chartreuse hair & 4" paddle tail. Highlights of day were the scent of honeysuckle in the air and watching two osprey battle a bald eagle.
