  • Susquehanna Surprises

Last week I fished the Susquehanna hoping to catch a very late season American Shad. The water flow from Conowingo was very low so I started off salvaging lures from shoreline snags. After finding a few, I rigged a Shad dart with a minnow and surprisingly caught my first ever snakehead. A feisty rock bass was then next surprise species. With really calm conditions and the water flow minimal, I paddled up river a bit a caught a surprisingly chunky smallmouth.

You had a productive day finding both fish and tackle. Sounds like fun.

That’s a lot of tackle, and nice variety of fish. After this weekend maybe a bit before the flow that low again. Thanks for the report.
