  • Clark’s Landing

Clark’s Landing is in a creek just off the Patuxent River near the Route 4 bridge. The Patuxent is closed to rockfish until June 1 so I don’t frequent it until after that. Finally went today. Got to ramp at 4:50, all paved spots taken except 1 with pro trot liners now taking over the ramp, and many key fishing spots. Today’s fishing was like yesterday’s, lousy. A handful of schoolies. I put on 3” Gulp and had hundreds of perch taps but no hookups. If you can’t eat Gulp I’m not interested in fussing with it.

It will be awhile before I go back there, the trotliners everywhere and all use the F bomb as a noun, verb, adjective, and sometimes even as a curse. Not very pleasant fishing.

    Was a gorgeous sunrise.

Never fished Clark’s landing but heard great perch and trout reports last year in that area. I use to fish the mouth of that creek a lot when I had my center console. It was ok fishing for me but some could tear up perch and croaker.
I agree with the curse words. I use to curse like a “sailer” as some would say. Not trying to turn this into a sermon but thanks to God he took those words from me 5 years ago. I often fish by myself because I’m picky whom I fish with. Don’t like hearing dirty words or smelling cigarette smoke. Alcohol included. Those who fish with me are the same way. To me it’s much more enjoyable when everything is clean. Great post!

Full parking lot by 4:50am... wow, that's brutal.
