During 2020, I launched five times from the Jackson Creek launch near Kent Narrows to fish in the Chester River http://www.snaggedline.com/showthrea...=jackson+creek . Today was my second visit there in 2021. On the first visit in 2020, I trolled paddletails in different directions seeing what I could find. I discovered a location in 4 to 5 feet water depth near a group of several waterfront homes. The bite in that area was outstanding -- I called this small zone the "Hot Spot". Every time I returned to Jackson Creek, I made sure to troll through that area. And on all dates, the Hot Spot produced. Once I left this zone of roughly 200 yards long by 50 yards wide, I had very few bites.
This morning I chose to launch at Jackson Creek because the winds were coming from the south. The Grasonville shoreline blocks much of the wind close to shore, particularly in the vicinity of the Hot Spot. I was able to paddle and troll in calm waters with an outgoing tide. In the first 30 mins, I caught an 18" speck and a 23" striper. Over the first two hours, I caught 8 stripers, including two at 21", a 22", two more at 23", and a 25" -- all in the Hot Spot. I can't think of any other shallow water trolling spot that offers the potential of that many quality fish within 30 minutes of home. Here is a photo of the first 23" striper.

I left biting fish to travel some distance away to check out perch in a tidal pond. That part of the trip was fruitless as I found no perch and had a long paddle back to the launch with some wind in my face.
