  • Fall smallies

Went to Pa. Saturday to try my hand at smallmouths. Never fished in Pa before and never really targeted smallmouths specifically. Have caught a few little ones in the years past but nothing decent. The fall bite was on for sure. I caught close to 30 fish with my biggest being just over 17" but really fat. I had an absolute blast and am hooked on smallies forever. Most of my fish were caught on soft jerkbaits, but picked up a few on spinnerbaits, and some bottom bouncing jigs. Had a beautiful first trip. Broke in my new Kayak big time.

Nice fish. I love smallie fishing but haven't done much in the past two years. I love how they spend almost as much time out of the water as in it during a fight.

Nice smallies. One of these years, I will get a PA license and give it a try.

This year so far, I have bought short-term licenses in FL, TX, and AK. It sure would be nice to be able to get a national fishing license that would carry over from state to state.

Outstanding maiden voyage for your new yak. That is a banner day 30+ smallmouth... great job. Pound for pound smallmouth have a ton of attitude when hooked. Now what do you do for an encore. Congrats and hope many more days are similar for ya!!!! ""bent rods and tight lines always my friend""
