I'm going to plan on heading out. 0630-0700 works for me.

Shady, the fs10 has done a good job for me! I don't like the water that splashes over the sides when the wind starts pushing the water but other than that I have no complaints. Ecspecially since I work at Basspro and got a real nice discount

I think we all might be a bit crazy for heading out on Sunday morning after all the rain we're getting. I'd like to cast some lines to see if we could catch anything. Not so sure though. Going to be quite chilly in the mid 30's. Hopefully the winds won't be an issue. I imagine they wil pick up as this front moves through. I'm game for a few hours at least.

Ill be there with my FS10 around 630 and then Ill decide if I want to wait to launch or launch right away. Looking forward to meeting everyone and doing a little paddling for a change...

Shady, I can be there around 7am. Sunrise isn't until 7:32am. So that should be around first light. Wouldn't mind heading out with a someone else, perhaps to learn a few different spots. Not sure what all this rain is going to do. Not high hopes but it beats sitting home wishing I was fishing.

Shady, New2yak and myself made it out around 0700 on Sunday. I'm not sure how they did since we split in different directions but I got dialed in on the rock pretty well. It was pretty chilly and the wind was kicking pretty good when we got there and discussed what we were going to do. I decided to troll out and over to the same area I had caught fish from earlier in the week while it sounded like Don and Shady were going to stay closer to the launch. The longer paddle ended up working out well for me Ended up with a dozen+ (lost count) with most of the fish between 18-24 inches. (2 or 3 were 14 inches or less and 2 were around 26-28 inches ) Caught fish casting, jigging and trolliing but trolling deep x-raps along a 12-15ft flat near the shipping channel was the hot ticket. I also landed several fish trolling a regular x-rap in the same area, 2 while casting a sonar and another vertical jigging the same lure. I also tried vertical jigging a 1oz freestyle spoon a few times but didn't have any luck. Fish were still biting when I left around 1145 to go thaw out and watch the Pat's lay an egg in Pittsburgh Good Fishin

Wow, guess I should have followed you but I couldnt even spot you on the horizon after you called. After working the L shaped dock with a jig for a while, I decided to try trolling. I just turned the rod holder on the front of the kayak sideways and trolled a glass shad-rap around the channel in front of the L-shaped pier. I would imagine that the lure probably did not get down that deep, but I did manage a small Striper at about 10" and had another bite that didnt stick around the same area. A little while after I started trolling my FF battery died, so I called it a day around 10am. Glad you got on them! I thought that this would be my last trip of the year, but your report may change that...

Ryan, If you look out towards the shipping channel from the launch you will see a high earth berm ( just looks brown) that runs into a riprap. In front of that berm were some nice marks in 10 fow and I caught a couple stripers there. Most fish came while trolling from that transition out to bouy #7 and back to that transition, just running circles.

Wow. Glad you had a good day. I saw you last when cruise ship was pulling in. after that I saw you headed towards channel. I had one small fish, looked like yellow perch, follow an x rap and strike short at kayak. Nothing else. I put up with wind until about 945. Wish I had followed along with you. Sounds like the fish found a spot to stick around. Id like to get after them again soon. Let me know if you plan to get out anytime soon.

Don, I'm busy all week so I probably won't make it out again until friday-sunday.. Will let you know. I wouldn't wait for me though, find bouy #7 and work that area over and you should find fish. Wind was a pain ecspecially on the paddle back in. Actually anchored a while just to give the arms a break.

If I do go again this year, I wont be able to make it back out until next weekend. However, using Chart 12281, I think I figured out where you were trolling. Were you trolling the south edge of the ferry bar channel? That definately looks like a good area to troll.

                          http://www.charts.noaa.gov/OnLineViewer/12281.shtml

Have you tried trolling or jigging the west side of the sort of sharp point that is south west of the 7 marker? There looks like an interesting little cut there and you can even see it on google.

Yup, south side of the channel. There is a little rip rap dike right by the "FI 4s"E" Priv" that you can see on the chart, the line that was working the best was from the marker to that dike then circle north and back to the marker along the drop off. Caught fish headed in both directions. I noticed the point to the west of #7 on the depth finder but didn't jig there and didn't pick anything up trolling over it. I did pick up 2 fish trolling west along that break on the way back to the launch from #7 to the L shaped pier but they were the smallest of the day. Caught 2 or three nice fish along the north south shore line right there south of the dike as well. Those pilings and WKS along that shore line are looking interesting, and that hump on the other side of the channel, and points / breaks around Ft McHenry.... Dang looks like I have some more exploring to do

I can probably do an evening this week or one day on the weekend. Not sure of weather reports but definitely would like another shot at them.
