  • Harbor Hospital

Fished out of Harbor Hospital today after work. Started around 430 by trolling along the channel towards Ft McHenry. Spotted a few birds diving and trolled through the area with out a hit. Came back to the area and did some vertical jigging and picked up 3 white perch. Trolled across the channel to the rip rap around the vehicle roll off area. Jigged the break into the main channel and picked up a rock on a sonar. Also jigged a bucktail/fluke combo and freestyle jig without any luck. Started casting a Rapala x-rap and picked up another rock on the first cast. Continued casting and missed a few strikes but had to start heading for the ramp. Trolled the x-rap and a rat'l trap on the way back to the launch and picked up one more rock on the x-rap over 13 fow. Gentleman at the ramp I talked to claimed a friend of his had picked up a 39 and 40 incher sometime last week. Good Fishin

Nice white perch from the meet and greet.

The reel is a Pinniacle Inertia. I had to go look at it to find out. Dug it out of a bargian bin at a Gander Mountian for 70% off a few years back.

The X-10 in hot pink. Think I might pick up a couple of the deeper running x-raps. Seems like a lot of the fish were suppended at 8-10 feet down in 18-20 fow.

Memory Maker, I've heard some good things about the area and a couple warm water discharges.... I will have to investigate and verify this fall / winter

Tufnik, Armistad is just off 695 at the base of the Key Bridge. Lots of rip-rap, the shipping channel, some pylons etc all within paddling distance.

Nice job on the fishing and a thorough report nicely done. I just may have to go against my personal beliefs and fish that area. I've always thought of it as a trash pit not worthy of my time. However all of the recent reports from there have me thinking of a change of heart. Just need decent weather and a fishing buddy, I hate to go alone, only because I want a witness when I get that pig on the other end of my line...LOL

The area certainly isn't the cleanest for sure. I know those stripers can lurk pretty much anyplace in that area. I suppose it just depends on the bait and where it is. No further than a mile or so either way, big ones are often caught. I like that area as it is decently protected with shoreline so doesn't get as rough as Ft. Armistead area. I am planning on headng out Sunday morning for a few hours to wet some lines. My wife is always saying; "You're crazy!!!" Maybe she's right.

I really haven't set a time. What do you think? Looking at forecasted temps for overnight, might want some sunlight to help warm air a bit. Not supposed to be much over 44 tomorrow for a high. I was thinking we should launch at Harbor Hospital. I will keep us in some calmer waters if the wind picks up. I just checked forecast once again and if it goes as they say, we know not to trust that, but we should be fine. I've only fished at HH one time a few weeks ago. I caught a few small stripers but had fun none the less. Let me know if you plan to go and what time you want to launch.
