  • SJC- much better today

Kevinfry and I hit the creek this afternoon. I hit the first fish on the way to the inlet, a nice 23 inch striper...Kevin, not to be outdone caught his personal best today- a 24 incher....we hadn't been there long before we had our limits but decided to catch and release until we got too tired of catching fish and threw the towel in around four p.m.

    another keeper

    I'm tired- let's rest a while-

A great day, feeling pleasently tired rather than beat up. It was strange today to only catch keepers! I did not catch a short until our last troll! i WAS, indeed, happy to finally break 21 inches....a mark that has eluded me in the past.
On a related note, the ladies back home let me know they wanted that fish fixed pronto...and so it was. A satisfying end to a fun day. Ron is a pleasent fishing partner....even though he seems to outfish me.

It looked to me like a dead heat as far as who caught what- I don't think we outfished each other-

Nice report. congrats on the new PB, I might try to get down that way soon, especially now that I know there is a closer launch than Buzz's.

I'll be fishing out of Solomon's tomorrow with Capt. Luke on his new Grady White, hopefully we can pull in a few big ones as they have arrived.

Gracias Ron....but by my count it was 2 to 1 in your favor!

Good luck out of Solomons! I hear they are getting a few biggun's fresh from the ocean

Yeah, but who was counting, Kevin- I tried casting the L&S "He-Dog" (walk the dog) to get them on top at the rips because I was resting- my legs were tired from fighting the current- it wasn't that I was tired of landing 18-20 inch keepers- and it was strange we only caught one short fish apiece yesterday- I have never seen that before. I lost a couple of nice fish at the boat- couldn't get one to open its mouth to use the boga grip and was drifting really fast into shallow water so I had to concentrate on getting out of the current and I ended up losing it when it dove under the Mirage Drive and tangled. Then the one big fish in the inlet that hung me up on some obstruction- I lost my $12 XR-12 XRap and that pissed me off. But yesterday was one day that I will remember a long, long time and smile- thanks for sharing it with me.

Friday was rough, weather wise, but we had fun- Sunday was still pretty windy but blowing from a different direction- anything from the North is brutal- but that isn't what made it possible- there was absolutely no way I would fish this time of year without a partner- it is just foolhardy and too many things can happen- so Kevin, you were essential to me having the opportunity to fish this weekend. As far as Veterans Day, my hat is off to all vets, especially the all volunteer force-
