Caught a nice smallmouth at Edwards Ferry

Nice day on the Upper Potomac, got windy towards the end of the day.

I caught one fish, a nice smallmouth on a chartreuse grubb. Put up quite a fight!

I saw 2 other guys catch some nice ones too.

Nice smallmouth. I want to start fishing upper Potomac as well as Shenandoah next year. Have some friends who say the doah gives up some pretty nice fish.

Sweet Chexone! That's a really great smallie. How's the hobie do on the Potomac?

I know that section of river pretty well. Last weekend I caught a 15 incher. My buddy caught one smallie and one largemouth. I snagged a huge carp down by its tail and it put up a huge fight. My knot slipped right when I got the carp up to the boat. A total blast!

Thanks guys. The hobie worked well. Fins down (pedals level), I could use the current to get pushed downstream. By putting the fins up (pushing one pedal forward), the wind would push me upstream. So I was able to stay put by playing with fin position. I went through several really shallow parts (less than a foot) by doing short pedal movements. OPnce in a while, the yak would turn unexpectedly from the fins getting pushed by some odd current. If I'd had a sail, I coulda sailed all the way up the river
