Magothy Pickerel

I was able to get out on the water earlier this week on two of the warmer days, Tues. and Thurs. I put in at a marina on Mill Creek where I have a boat in dry storage. This was my first time targeting pickerel in the creek and I found a few fishy spots with a few pickerel in the 10-15 inch range. Thursday was a skunk due to the poor water clarity from all the rain the day before (certainly not my fishing prowess ).

Today I explored Beechwood Park in Pasadena on foot. Although the AA county lists this as a "car top launch", the walk to the water is on a trail through the woods with a steep descent to the beach. I managed one nice 19" pickerel from the beach.

I think posting this here is fine...

I've launched my smaller, lighter sit in kayak there a few times. If you go to the right on a less traveled path about halfway down the main path, you can cart all the way down to the water. I launched there in December and there were some small downed trees in the way, which made it difficult to get down to the water. Next time I go, maybe in the next couple of weeks, I will bring a hand saw to clean up the path.
