  • Mattawoman Creek- Saturday

A few of us are planning to fish Mattawoman Creek Saturday- weather forecast is looking pretty nice- I plan on fishing a bit farther up the creek than where I normally fish- I will carry some bunker for blue cats, but I will be mainly fishing for bass, crappie, pickerel and perch- It has been three weeks since my last kayak outing- can't go a full month without catching a fish-

Sounds awesome... If I can sneak away from the fam i might try and tag along...Last fish I caught there was a monster blue that pulled me quite a ways..good memories about that place... the little boat ramp up river?

I'm flexible as to launch times- whatever the majority want- I'm fine with- and the more the merrier- we had four of us last time and we had plenty of fishing room- the creek is not small (for those who have never fished it)- lots of fishy places to fish- some deep pockets, shallows, weed beds, old structure, and the channels- if you look at state record fish, the creek has had a few-

We will not get skunked- guarantee that- fish finder rig on the bottom while anchored up baited with cut bunker will absolutely get you a big old nasty catfish- there are some pretty decent catfish, but I am not targeting just cats- (I will bring a bunker or two with me). I will be trying for crappie, yellow perch, pike, and bass- UL 1/16 oz jig fishing with two inch swim shads should get panfish-

In! I prefer an early launch - 10am or earlier - as I've got things to do in the late afternoon. Looking forward to catching a big cat. I've been marinating cut croaker in fish oil and gulp juice.

How about 10am? That'll give other guys who live farther out some time to get there.

Fred's Sports in Waldorf has frozen bunker- I cut it and then put it in zip lock bags for ease of use

My plan for saturday was to fish close to my house at either beechwood or jonas green, but mattawoman creek sounds very tempting. Sounds like a good place to bring some of my salties...

Jimmy, Go to the seafood section at an H Mart. You will be surprised what you might find that can be used for bait!
