  • More Susky YP

I got out today around 9 and had my first 3 keepers on my first 3 drops, which took all of 2 minutes. I was pretty sure I'd have a limit within a half hour, but I did have to work a little harder for the rest. The wind made it a little more challenging today at about 15 mph. The majority were still sub 9".

The first few hours of fishing I was all alone which was surprising.

I packed it in around 2PM. I literally could not catch any more fish. My rod hand was so tired from reeling in sub 9"ers that I had to call it a day

The fish are still there if anyone was thinking about heading up again this weekend. Good luck to all.

Also worth noting...the fish are deeper now than they were last week.

Nice work again on the Perch. You are really tempting me to go up there this weekend, but I really wanted to fish closer to home...

Might go on Sunday, depending on the weather.

Sounds like at least a few good fish are there to catch. Reading between the lines on other fishing web sites I get the feeling that most of the guys who normally fish the lower Susky have found good yperch fishing elsewhere in the upper Bay. And I don't know where. So I guess the yperch are following the bait. Most likely the baitfish that would normally inhabit the lower Susky got flushed out during our unusually wet and flood-prone fall and early winter.

Yeah, it's a bit of a drive from you to do every weekend

It sounds like they are being caught elsewhere, but I don't know where to be honest. All the fish that I caught today had empty stomachs. I had 4 females and 6 males. One of the females looked like she'd dropped her eggs already.
