After Mepps nice report yesterday and a text from Ictalurus with "Inside information" I decided to hit Allen's fresh and pick up a mess of perch.......................did not get a "mess" only one white and one yellow. i WAS SO PLEASED, however, with the nice weather and beautiful setting. Good company, too, when Bill showed up.
BTW, the "inside info" said go upstream. As we pulled out, another kayaker came out with good action on NEDS....downstream! LOL, my winter luck is still intact!
Here is a couple of tranquil photos. The first is slipping through the hazards.

It's fascinating. On the upside, the community that fishes there is really friendly and helpful, and the scenery is hard to beat. When I fish there with my father, it always surprises him how friendly the other anglers are.
), but I realized when I launched that I didn't have any bobbers with me, which was weird. I don't know when I took them out. That meant I couldn't use the suggested technique (shad dart under a bobber with a bit of bait), but I tried every other perch technique in my repertoire (jigging blade, drop-shot and grub, drop-shot and worm, an assortment of grubs and spinners). Part of the problem was that I caught a fish on the first cast.
I need to first cast somewhere where I can't catch something as suggested in the banana thread. It was an 8.5" yellow perch. I spent a lot of my time after that hooking every root, twig, and branch in and around the water.
