  • Where are you fishing Saturday and Sunday?

I got a small taste of small channel cats on Mattawoman on Sunday. Caught 10 most about 10-12" with one around 17-18". Want to feel some good pullage. Know they have to be there somewhere. Anyone catfishing the Potomac this weekend? I was only using clam snouts but they were tearing them up. Missed at least as many as I caught. Never used fish finder rig and was having trouble with getting hooksets.

With this week's weather, the fish have to be getting active. If no one is interested in catfishing, I might go in search of some crappie.

I am toying with the idea of going for Cats on the Potomac on Sunday. Not sure yet.

I was thinking of a trip down that way either to Mattawoman or Ft Washington / Piscattaway one of those days. Hadn't decided which yet. As well as the cats, I've heard the bass are starting in Piscattaway and there should be some crappie around in Mattawoman I would think.

As for hook sets, I think circle hooks are the way to go. Let the fish do the work. On our trip to Marshall Hall, I only missed two hits with the circle hooks, and I suspect it was because the fish was small or I had too much bait on the hooks.

Wayne--what day were you thinking of fishing? I want to try for some cats/bass/crappie, too, and I know Ron is looking for some pullage. I'd prefer Saturday, but I'm not sure how the weather is going to shake out.

I'm free for both days and could do either. I haven't even looked at the weather yet since the forecast will change 7 times by then anyways

BB (I bet some bigger stripers are starting to move in) and/or Mattawoman (always up for a few cats)... let me know when you're going and I may join you depending on my schedule... this weather is killing me (because I'm not out in it...)

Forecast calling for rain on Friday and perhaps Saturday morning. Even though it might rain, Saturday might be better day to fish as I expect the winds to pick up and start blowing either later Saturday or Sunday.

I'm game for some catfishing or LMB, Crappie, just some good pullage really.

going to hit rocky gorge and triadelphia hunting some walleye and SMB in mid depth areas near structure and close to deeper holes where the fish have probably been most of the winter.

Something you might want to look at. Seems they changed the fishing and boating dates for this year to 01 April - 15 November. http://www.wsscwater.com/home/jsp/co...atershed.faces
