Flats again...skunked

Days when conditions look perfect are days when I get nothing.

Headed out again today onto the Susquehanna Flats.

Water was sitting at 50.5 degrees in most places.

It was cloudy and overcast for most of the day. I thought for sure today was the day I'd get the Trophy fish but I got skunked.

tried all the tricks in my bags and the fish weren't cooperating.

Did see a decent amount of bait fish jumping so maybe soon

nice day to be on the kayak though.

Still a little early for the cows to show up- I think it has to do with the amount of daylight more than water temps...the residents that never leave the Bay are hanging around their usual haunts- Bay Bridge rockpiles, PLO, Point No Point, etc. but these fish are really finicky and you need to entice them with the catch of the day- this time of year they seem to want bloodworms-

Thanks for the report. I'm still chomping at the bit to get up there. I'm scouring all info to keep a lookout for the first catch. I probably would be up there today but my planars didn't come yet...and I figure worst case scenario, I learn how to use them.

With the temps that you are saying and the lack of rain, this should be a great season for lures.

Sounds like striper pickins are still slim on the Flats. Has the grass started growing out in the Flats? Probably too early but sometimes during mild winters the grasses don't die back completely. By mid-summer the grass there grows extremely thick and goes on for a couple square miles.
