    report from oysterbaytackle 3/19

"Had several reports of tautog inshore this week. The inlet, bulkhead, and
bridge all had some keepers. Reports are that they are just keepers or just
under.... not many big fish. Our size limit in MD is still 14-inches but
when it is announced, it will increase to 16-inches. Mike Herbert e-mailed
in: "Today Brandon (my grandson) and I fished on 6 th street and Brandon
caught our first keeper toug of the year, it was 14 1/4 inches, he is still
smiling because he out fished his grand pop. 5th street is the hot spot
right now, you can tell because they are shoulder to shoulder. we did also
have 2 other tougs but they were just a little short. can't wait till we
    come back again."

Has anyone fished there? I am assuming the current is pretty strong, but I would love to give it a shot. I am new to the area and live in Salisbury and would love any advice. Thanks Guys.

I worked for Sue Foster (owner of Oyster Bay) last summer. I went there today around 11 because im hitting Assateague this weekend. I had heard reports of Tog and Sue confirmed them skeptically. I hit the 2nd street bulkhead for almost 2 hours on an outgoing tide with NO BITES. two asian fisherman also had zero action. I picked up and headed to the north jetty of the OC inlet. Fished for another hour with NO BITES. Another 2 asian fellas where there with no action as well. I left feeling defeated and gave my remaining green crabs to the fellow fisherman. I think maybe the tide/moon phase had something to do with the action but i do not know enough about Tautog to say.

All fishing was done from Terra Firma.

Thanks for the report MD! I would love to know where you got the green crabs too, I am from up north and I know Taug love some good green crabs. We might try and go this weekend, thinking sunday if anyone is interested. We will prolly bring the yaks but if there is chance of thunder we will just fish from shore.

I read a post that Jkrahl is going out tomorrow?? Im free and totally down to go! I did work at Fenwick Tackle but only on friday nights. OBT on 116th was my main place...Love that store, and Sue is a wonderful woman. Her father and Co-Owner Irv Mumford passed away in January, but shes still there running the shop flawlessly.

Im probably going to launch from Homer Gudalsky (sp?) Park aka Stinky Beach. Ill try the west channel then head over to the east channel and hit the bulkhead. Sue also said that they (Tog) are being caught from people fishing off the 50 bridge. When driving home I saw them fishing on the drawbridge (actually illeagal) but thats the deep water in the channel. Probably try those edges also. Not having a FF is really going to hold me back tomorrow

I've got electronics so no worries I normally only fish wherevyou were saying the chinamen were its a nice easy current free spot believe it or not that point right off of stinky looks like an awesome place but it rips through there I want to devise a rock anchor thingy that you can retrieve with ease for that spot in particular any ideas?
