  • Surprised at Wasons Corner-3/23

I decided to hit Wayson's Corner this afternoon since the BB didn't work out so well this morning.

Turns out the Yellow Perch are still there, I was expecting Whites. In 2 hours I caught 6 YP total-two 7 inchers and four 11 inches or over.

I also caught a 7 1/2" Sunfish that jumped 6" out of the water to bite my lure! I've never hooked a Sunfish in the air before. Come to think of it, I've never caught a Sunfish before at Wayson's Corner either.

All of my fish were caught on a Rapala crankbait (pic below)

I only had my cell phone to take photos so they aren't that great.

Glad to you got some fish today.. I was gonna text you and see if you wanted to fish my lake, but it was a last minute decision whether I'd be able to or not.

Also, YP over 11" = kayak wars points... congrats..... you gotta get Team 2 rolling!!

I'm usually up for last minute fishing, I have no life

I didn't know YP counted for KW I only took photos of the first 11"'er and, when I went to post it, I realized you couldn't read the measurement (plus the end of the stick was folded a bit in the pic, the fish was not being cooperative). Guess I'll have to go back for more!

Nice work on the perch and sunfish. Is that a Husky Jerk? I've heard they work well for pickerel and bass, and I've been meaning to incorporate one into my rotation.

It's a Rapala I've had forever but never used much. I don't know the model or even the color name but I'm gonna try and find it since it worked so well yesterday.

EDIT: yes, Husky Jerk 2.5 inch in Tennesee Shad color
