I fished four out of the last six days. On each trip I caught only one species of fish. But the species of the day was different on all four trips. I don't think I ever had that experience before. All the fish were caught using small lures on ultralight rods.
Monday - Fished the lower Susquehanna from the shoreline and caught 5 hickory shad. Used a double shad dart rig.
Tuesday - Kayak fished Blackwalnut Creek and caught about a dozen white perch. Caught a few on grass shrimp fished on a shad dart under a bobber, but got most on a 2" plastic minnow on a gold spinner arm.
Friday - Took a short kayak trip in Mill Creek (first creek north of Severn). I fished for 90 minutes for perch, but never got a bite. As I headed back to the put-in spot, I tried one more stretch of shoreline with rock rip-rap and caught a 17" rockfish with the same gold spinner arm and plastic minnow as Tues.
Sat - Kayak fished in Mattawoman Creek. Caught largemouth bass using 1/8-oz jighead and 2" twister tail.
