  • Suggestions for This Weekend?

Good morning. Right now, it appears that Sunday and Monday may have decent weather conditions and I am itching to go fishing. It has seemed like people have been having a hard time locating stripers lately. I am happy to have a good day of perch fishing if nothing else.

I realize that this weekend there will likely be an absurd amount of boat traffic, so I will probably launch before sunrise :--)

    Any suggestions?

Weekends like this, I prefer to avoid any waters that allows gas powered motors, or at least stick to No Wake areas. Could be a good weekend on Triadelphia (which is still open), or to fish somewhere like Weems Creek. I did well on perch there a couple of weeks ago by heading into the upper stretches of the creek. Just watch out for the cownose rays. They were pretty thick in near the mouth of the creek, but I didn't see any in the upper reaches.

I've been pretty disheartened by the poor tidal fishing in my area lately - I'm having a hard time even finding white perch in good numbers. This weekend I'm going to try crabbing again, even though I swore I was done with it after my last god-awful trip. I figured fishing or crabbing are both likely to be unproductive for me right now so I might as well go crabbing and try to learn something.

Afraid I am staying home-too much traffic on the water this weekend. Stay safe if you venture out!

Hopefully I’ll be paddling out to spot at first light. Plan is to stay close to home and avoid high boat traffic areas. Just looking for meat in the freezer so catfish will be my target. Hopefully blue catfish. Perch has been a sad story for me this year so far. My favorite perch spot on land hasn’t been productive so I’m not even going to attempt to try on kayak. Will have a smorgasbord of bait for the catfish. Looking to be in and out.

Crabbing sounds fun and it’s something I’ve been wanting to do. May try to incorporate that also while catfishing.
