It's been a mixed bag this past week of 08/28/22. Earlier in the week we had a solid day with a variety of species between myself and two other buddies: puppy drum (13-14"), a bluefish (13"), 5" flounder, lots of nice perch, a lone 19" rock, lizard fish, and some smaller specs. We saw lots of larger breaking fish, probably +20" blues or even Spanish. I saw them breaking g vertically from a distance. We couldn't entice them to take what we were throwing though. The last two days were much slower, with only schoolie rock, perch, and lizard fish. We're fishing the afternoon/evening/falling tide and this heat is no fun. My buddy got a hit and thought he had something big, then the line got light. Pictured is what he boasted. We suspect chomper blue. I saw several very large fork tailed fish launching themselves vertically out of the water chasing bait. Smaller CNR and Ray's have been sighted, but luckily not hooked. The lizard fish have been rather hefty.

Thanks for the report - I am considering spending the long weekend in SOMD and trying to catch some of those more southern species. That picture is crazy..... your buddy paid the taxman, as they say.Dave

I hit Piney Point last Sunday. The inside area was stained. I launched one tiny puppy drum out of the water, over my front casting deck, and back into the water on a hookset. I caught one large perch. I then went just outside into the river and the water was much better. I caught a baby bluefish. I hooked and broke off a skate in my 8 weight fly rod.
lots of ppl out boating and fishing. I miss fishing in weekdays.
