2 Sep: PB

Put in at lower marlboro at 630AM today, went north and worked a 35 foot ledge for 3 hrs. Went through all my 3 LBS of bait and got 22 blue catfish averaging 10-15 LBS. The biggest was 31 LBS and 41 inches and was my kayak personal best. 20220902_104258.jpg

There are some pretty impressive catfish in Lower Marlboro. Makes I hard to try other places.

Can’t wait to get back out there on the kayak early Monday morning. I hope to have good of success as you did before the boaters get going.

It was nice meeting you this morning! My friend and I did pretty good off the pier but being able to access deeper water is key.

It did. I had to unclip from the anchor and chase it down in the current.

Man that’s a nice catfish! Congrats on the catch. What was the bait you were using for them?

Cut bunker. That 30 pounder came on my very last piece which was a head piece that had been pecked to basically just a shell by a small dink fish. I didn't expect to get anything on that last piece, but right as I was about to leave, my rod doubled over and started screaming drag.

Thanks! Head pieces are always hit or miss for me too. I don’t fish for cats as much in the summer, so there are less nibblers when I go, but that’s awesome getting the big one on the last piece of bait.
