Today was a first for me. Finally skunked on the patuxent. I put in at 830AM, water was 34 degrees but air temp was perfect and water was like glass. Saw lots of fish sitting on bottom on the graph but nothing was taking. Had frozen alewife and mud shad and used both. The bait wasn't bad for having been frozen, it wasn't freezer burned and had blood in it. I fished until about 2 and called it when the wind picked up and the water got a little choppy. If I had caught anything I'd probably have started a "winter catfish bite thread" but no go today. I saw a guy flying a drone on the dock and he told me he was a contractor and was surveying to place rip rap along the shore on the prince George County side of the river along the mcgruders ferry area and planned to be done by August. That could possibly improve the fishing on that little stretch as it adds cover.
