Brooms Island - 11/5 AM

Last minutes plans,,
I am launching at "Nan's Cove" (Brooms Island) Sat Morning,, plan to be there about 6:30

Anyone who wants to join is welcome,, I am only fishing for about 2 hours.

I did get out a few hours Sat morning.
Warm weather and no wind,, smooth water.
Launched by Brooms Island at 7:00AM,, low tide was ~7:00 am.
Was trolling out in the River around the structure I like by 7:20,, Trolled a 1/2 chartreuse chatterbait with 5" chartreuse paddle tail on rod 1 , rod 2 was a 1/2oz white underspin with a 5" white paddle tail.
Noted decent bait balls on the sonar heading into the area I like to fish, but no large fish marks.
5 minutes in around 7:30 my rod 1 went down and landed a 20" Striper.
I trolled around the structure and out to a droppoff (10' to 15') with out seeing any large fish on the sonar or any hits.
At about 8:30 I landed a 17 striper,, by 9:00 the sonar was showing the area was void of any fish.

Fished till 10:00 with no more action.
This area seams to be "time sensitive" more so than Tide. Every time I have fished it,, the fish disappear around 8-9am
The usual medium flock of seagulls was around,, but never took to the air and marked bait fish,, not even in the distance.

May try one more time Friday morning, before the rain hits,, I would be fishing the tail end of the incoming tide.

Sounds like you had a good time at least. Is the actual cove up there pretty shallow? It looks that way on navionics.

Nice work learning your local water and catching a few fish. Gradually finding out little bits of information about the area like you've done will be valuable for you.

For the most part both fingers of the cove are shallow (2-4' tide dependent), there is a slim maintained channel that runs in to the eastern finger,, that is 4-6' deep.
The West finger we typ do not go in,, though the White Perch were in there 3 years ago,, but missing this year.
My wife crabs off her kayak,, typ sets 10 traps at the mouth of the cove, and sometime just out of the cove, 4-6'
While she crabs, I head out into the river looking for the Stripers. There is a nice drop off from about 6' to 30'+ about 2-300 yards off the point of the island. I need to get out there more than the one time and try to work it.

The picture is the area I want to concentrate on next year.

That drop off looks like it would be a prime spot for spring catfish to me.

And they were nice enough to place a piling (with beacon) to tie off to,, right at the drop off.
