  • Wed Carp Report

Another glorious day and this time I brought my little fishing buddy. He helped reel in two big carp and had a blast hanging out with me and Joe Bruce (The Bruce). We lost 4 and landed about 25 or 27..at that point you forget exactly how many..

    So here are some pics.

As you can see the last pic is bit blurry because Joe did not have on his glasses. LOL
    What a great day.

Awesome stuff - congrats! Carp are hugely under-appreciated, but really fun to catch. Where are you fishing for them (very roughly speaking -- no need to "out" your spot)?

Yes definitely under appreciated. We fish mostly in the water as that is where the fish are. I did try my front and back yard several times for grass carp but no bites. Might be bad bait.

        LOL water definitely helps!!

ok, then I know exactly where you were -- I thought I recognized the spot. Never carp fished there before, but good to know they're already feeding strong. Winter can be slow going, so you guys did great to pull in that many fish. Did you weigh any of them? Couple of them there look they must be pushing 15-20lbs.

Biggest was 27lbs on a good scale.
My eyeballs said it was bigger..but then again they always do.

Guys are back on that spot today and once they finish the day I will post all the pics. Last I heard they where at 15 fish.

Wow, 27 is a good fish! I might have to grab my boilies and head over that way sometime soon!

I recognize where you're at, hopefully I will run into you some day. Looks like some good carp, Ive never targeted them but knew they were in there because I've been on the water there during spawning season. it's quite something to see the carp splashing around in the shallows and weeds particularly if you don't know what they are at first.

Why do you put the fish in that basket thing? I see all the European carp fishers do that too, but I've never understood why?

It calms them down and allows you to remove the hook. In some places they put a Sav like Bactine on the hook puncture. Not me.
If you notice the cradle has a net in it so you can weight the fish and slide it out into water after that.

Okay, thanks. Yes, I've seen the Euro guys using cradle nets to land and weight carp and barbel. I didn't know that they are difficult to unhook without the net.

Bactine where the fish was hooked? Seriously?! People do that? I don't understand that at all.

Anyway, looks like you guys have been having fun!
