  • Queen Anne County Launch Permit Tip

While picking up a 2023 Queen Anne County Launch permit decal at Angler's Sport Center yesterday the checkout counter offered the following tip:

"Cut score lines into the sticker so that it is not easily removed"

They said that they have seen recently instances where people were returning to buy a second $35 bumper sticker launch decal after the first was stolen by some low life. The idea which I employed into practice was that if the decal wouldn't peel off in one piece, the gutter snipe might give up on mine and move on to someone else's. They informed me that the County will not replace lost or stolen decals and the only way law enforcement will know if decal is out of place is for them to run both the tag and check for a name match with the Queen Anne's County Department of Parks and Recreation data from the permit application. I'm saving an image of my sticker on my vehicle and the purchase receipt in case I need to challenge a ($50) fine for having no sticker in the future. Sucks, but it has become a sign of the times.

Thanks for the tip. In the summer of 2015, I replaced an old van with a new van. I was able to peel the QA County ramp sticker off the old van and reattach it on the new van, thereby avoiding having to get a new permit. I agree with you that it is easy to remove a sticker.

Scoring the sticker is a great idea, as well as taking a picture of it on the vehicle and keeping the receipt. I love the various QA launches but if I returned to my vehicle with a missing sticker and a ticket, I would not be a happy angler...thank you Slough Sleigher

One thing that I now do for various reasons is that I drive to the QueenAnnes county building, I think it is on 4 H Road, which is not far from Kent Island. If you are able to, the advantage of getting the sticker there is that they will laminate it for you with one of their forms, so you can use it in your dashboard of your vehicle. No need to stick it on your bumper. Also the laminate has up to 3 vehicles registered on it, so you can use it if you drive multiple cars. You might be able to do it through the mail, but I like getting mine in my had.
