Bay Bridge East Sat 4-28-12

Launched off the Bay Bridge Marina just before 7 am. Mostly cloudy. Temp was about 40, but went up to just over 50. Chops less than a foot. Winds were light.

Worked the pilings with water from 10 to 70 ft deep. Trolled and jigged white bkd and peppered chartreuse grub worm on 1 and 1 1/2 ounce jigheads. Nothing. I also soaked bws, and again, nothing. Not even a nibble.

Saw three other yakers trolling and jigging. They didn't catch anything either. Also saw a few boats out.

On the way back in just after 1 pm, I jigged the bkd along the pilings and caught a short striper in seven feet of water.

This is trophy season, right? So where the heck are they?

i was out there too and saw ya. i launched after you and returned before you did. i was going to paddle over when i was leaving, but you were fishing the west bound span and i was too tired to make a detour..lol. i wasnt part of the other yakers out there, they launched from matapeake. i fished solo towards the shipping channel mostly. skunk.

Those other yakers were visitors from PA. They wanted to know of a closer launch. Anyway, we've got to find a place where we can catch and keep cows. Am not quite interested in Susky.

I think the recent cold weather messed things up. It should warm up again the next coming week.

Bummer. The BB has really been hit-or-miss lately.
