  • 1 white perch for 3 hours off Jonas Green, May 10, 2055

On May 10, I fished 3 hours off Jonas Green park.
I fished the docks. Only 1 WP caught for 3 hours.
I know I can catch WP in July. Perhaps, WP are still in the upper stream (spawning still?).
Does anyone know when WP will show up in numbers in the area?

I will try again in the middle of June

Joe I think middle of June would be ok. Last year I had some luck early June but if I remember correctly I couldn’t find them at the docks. I had best luck jigging off the bottom of pilings at the bridge closest to launch. Maybe they don’t get to the docks in numbers until July.

Not many 9” WP but still good for fish tacos

I think give it another 2-3 weeks. If you go back out, try jigging in some of the deeper holes with something like a cast master with a crappie tube or jig above it or a sabiki rig (anglers sells a 2 hook sabiki rig which as worked well for me). Sometimes you can find them in the deeper holes before they assume the summer pattern.
      Used to fish more.

So yesterday I tried Chesapeake Beach, MD - I knew Fishing Creek held WP and other species before. But it was always after July to November.
I tried for 2 hours and I had no bites. There were plenty of minnows and grass shrimp caught by small hand held nets.

A man said WP started to bite in the middle of June here.

Before WP fishing I fished jetties for 30 minutes for striper. I caught a 23.8 incher.
        That was the only bite.
