Met surfdog, medicyaker and naysayer at the Bladenburg Waterfront Park boat launch. I was on the Anacostia River water by 0830 hrs. Nice sunny day.

This was a snakehead hunt. Went as far down as a half mile south of the railroad bridge. Worked the river edges and inside several side streams. Used spinnerbaits and caught only a 19" catfish. No SHs.

I quit after six hours. While loading the yak I talked to two park workers. They said the place has lots of SHs. State workers would often come down and zap the water killing dozens of SHs. On some days you can see the water teeming with SHs just off the pier. Well, I guess the water wasn't teeming today.

I'm headed out in the morning Tuf- headed south again for some pullage and get out of the house- winds are supposed to be 12 mph- gusting to 19 mph NE- should have a nice chop- rough, active water usually has fish that are biting but is uncomfortable in a boat. You usually get pretty wet in a kayak and it probably seems a little extreme to the casual observer but we rarely get perfect weather- I fish when I can, windy weather is something you just have to deal with. Find a fishing location that gives you the best opportunity to catch fish with wind.

      PLO? Piney Pt? Good luck!

I can't do fishing the next couple of days. Hope to try DE on my next outing. Gonna have to put trips for SHs on the side for now.

I went out from the same park on Friday morning. Got there before it opened and got let in by a park worker at 5:45am. Fished topwater and some spinners but got skunked. After getting back to the dock at 10am to do a half day of work I got help from a park ranger there loading my yak. He told me that the EPA had been there on Thursday and electro fished and took out a good amount of snakeheads, wished I would have know this before I went! Either way I'll be back to try to get my first SH soon, maybe when the EPA hasn't cleaned them out the day before!

Sorry you guys didn't get into the snakeheads. I didn't realize the EPA had a removal program. Seems like that could get expensive fast.

the electrofishing programs are usually a survey program that measures the fish species in a particular location and is not a large scale removal process- Maryland and Virginia do this all the time. The lamprey program on the Great Lakes proved it is impossible to effective electrofish out a species-

Yea I don't think the program will eradicate the fish but the ranger said that the EPA has been there at least once a week to remove snakeheads and caught as many as 20 in one day.

Yeah, my yak was the dirtiest its ever been too.

Lots of parking and families there too, so it's best to go early in the morning to get a good parking spot.

Funny, they have so many SHs they easily kill dozens by zapping the water. Yet we can't get just one. Maybe we should trade in our rod/reels for an electro-zapping machine. I'd hate to carry the battery around though...lol...
