Launched in the heat of the day Friday from Mayo Beach 2pm. with a buddy. My FF had the water temp at 85. We went to the right and immediately hooked perch consistantly using beetle spins in green. Measured and took one fish to Marty's there in Edgewater. 13-1/8", registered the fish. Pulled most of the perch from the riprap further down. Hot but rewarding day until we ran into the storm on suitland prkwy after some dinner down in Deale. 2 kayaks tied on top of the car made for a great sail. Could have shut the motor off and jibbed and jibed (tictak or whatever sailing term) all the way home. We thought we lost one yak but was hanging on when we got home.
Perch are my new favorite eating fish. I will try to post more pics showing the fish. It looks like I keep a lot of fish (not often), when I do, there are 5 of us I need to feed. My buddy caught as many as I did but only kept a few for his dinner. Hope nobody thinks this was excessive, none of these went to waste.
Mayo is a good launch site. I purchased a 40 buck permit and only used it twice so far but there wasn't one other person in site except for my buddy. Found a hose bib outside a building and knelt down way low to shower off before heading out.
