Rocky Gorge 6/30-7/2

Guess I am a glutton for punishment but I fished the Gorge the last 3 days out of Browns Bridge. Saturday skunked, although I took the girlfriend out for a paddle and a picnic and only took a couple casts here and there. Sunday, fished from 0530-1000 and ended up with 3 small bass. Monday, fished from 1630-2000 and landed 3 more small bass. Largest bass was around 13 inches and most of the rest about 10 inches. Texas rigged tube, un-weighted senkos, black buzz bait, and a small crankbait all accounted for a fish or two. Couldn't find any consistent patern. Caught fish in coves, on points, on gravel and next to ledges, on top and dragging baits on the bottom. Eh, good to be on the water

You need to drive to the Potomac instead....Upper Potomac has smallies galore. Lower Potomac has feisty tidal largemouths and snakeheads. The Potomac is worth the drive for sure.

It's frustrating when your local waters don't produce. It sounds like you didn't leave any stone unturned, though.

Yup, I think Mattawoman is calling my name for tomorrow morning Would have fished somewhere else yesterday and maybe sunday but a co-worker wanted to give it another try.

I can relate. Summer conditions are tough at Rocky Gorge and Triadelphia. I live a mile from the dam at Triadelphia and it bothers me that I can't catch more bass out of the place. The Potomac is such a wonderful resource with plenty of options for kayak fishing. I wish it was closer for weekday trips, but I can only make it out there on weekends.
