Red drum are coming up bay like they do down in the Gulf Coast...could be the lack of fresh water in the middle bay and/or the water temps...i have always had an incidental catch of the little fellas around Cobb Island in late summer, but never in the numbers we are seeing today.
Hey, I like catching them as well or better than stripers when they are of equal size- a big bull red is a frieght train on light tackle-

Yeah, I'm hoping Maryland develops a red drum fishery like Virginia has. The big ones show up every year, but not within kayaking distance from the western shore, and we get these little guys every now and then. I would really like a shot at some slot sized reds.
That would be great Bill! Add another species to target close to home! I wonder if this is just a one year thing or if they are changing up for the near future too.
Red Drum are my current favorite fish to eat.
I have never caught one. I look forward to my two separate weeks I will have at cocoa beach this summer. I hope I get to catch a few if these guys.
